Phil ‘blocked’ second Kerry interview
|
Presenter Philip Schofield stopped Kerry Katona from re-appearing on This Morning after she badmouthed him, according to reports.
The former Atomic Kitten singer was hoping to appear on the ITV1 show to set the record straight about a shambolic previous appearance, but Schofe apparently overruled the decision after Kez told the press the original interview had been conducted in an “ignorant and arrogant” fashion.
“It was made clear it was very much Phil’s decision,” said an insider. “She’s gutted. Kerry said she was looking forward to going on the show but was still aggrieved at her treatment first time round.”
“This tipped Phil over the edge. He was furious she was bringing it up again. He spoke to the team and they all agreed to pull her.” An appearance on Loose Women was also cancelled.
Said an ITV spokesperson: “Both This Morning and Loose Women care for Kerry Katona and her well-being but felt that the time was not right at this moment.”
La Katona, who said her slurred speech was the result of medication for her bipolar disorder, made the comments at the press launch for her Kerry Katona: What’s the Problem? MTV show. "They never once asked what type of medication it was, or asked what bipolar is,” she said. “He [Schofield] was just, 'Have you been drinking?' I thought that was quite rude."
Schofe hit back, saying, "In light of Kerry Katona's recent press conference, I would like to point out that the recollection I have of the interview we did with her differs considerably from hers." He added that he never accused Kerry of being drunk.
Now if only there was some kind of online video storage facility with clips of the interview so we could check who’s right…
